Abstract

In the present work, it is in cause in studies on the written press of the nineteenth century in San Juan, Argentina. It seeks to solve the unknown created around current historiographical theoretical approaches such as subaltern studies, which propose approaches and reflections on historical science, while renewing methodological practices in research. Focus is placed on the study of the San Juan written press in the local and national political context, of transition to the constitutional system, after the sanction of the 1853 constitution. It can be said of the period as an electoral context of testing, in the transition towards the installation of the constitutional order. In this context, the present article is developed, which aims to analyze institutional links between medicine of the time, the written press and state institutions, manifesting devices of political surveillance and social discipline. In this case, the subaltern subject contributes to the national political context one of the criticisms of Urquiza that are reflected in the local press, and contributes to democratic practice with an example of civic pedagogy. ext
