Abstract

This study seeks to explore two fundamental concepts in Mark Fisher’s
thought within the context of his analysis of capitalist realism: overidentification
and precorporation. It begins by outlining Fredric Jameson’s theoretical
developments concerning the notion of postmodernity. It then considers the
conceptual advantages that capitalist realism holds over postmodernity when
it comes to articulating a philosophical analysis of the present. The discussion
proceeds by addressing the implications of overidentification in Mark Fisher’s
philosophy. Finally, the paper explores the process of precorporation as a
preventive modeling of desires.
