Cinema and erasure: an exploration on Queerness in new argentine cinema
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article presents the progress of an ongoing research project entitled “The Erasure of Queer Corporealities in Cinema – An Analysis of Traditional/Hegemonic Cinema from the Perspective of Queer Aesthetics.” As a preliminary stage of this work, it offers an approach grounded in queer theory as a theoretical framework to explore New Argentine Cinema through the lens of the haptic, understood as queer and subversive in opposition to an ocularcentric and masculine cinema that erases the queer. Thus, this study foregrounds the theoretical dialogue between Butlerian queer theory, late-twentieth-century classical aesthetic theories of cinematic representation, and the queer-haptic phenomenological cinematic method that has emerged over the past two decades.
