Maps Of A Corporality: Inhabiting The Unfamiliar Body In Exceptional Contexts
Main Article Content
Abstract
This philosophical essay reflects childhood in contexts of war. From an interpretive perspective, it argues that war does not occur solely “outside,” but is also inscribed in the body. To this end, the essay examines the experiences recorded in the diaries and autobiographies of children and young people during World War II. These texts allow us to deconstruct the “sites” of violence and the structures designed to perpetrate it. This process of cruelty manifested itself in a gradual disembodiment, to the point where the body came to feel alien to them. The analysis seeks to uncover “philosophems” (A. Roig), understood as philosophical ideas that allow for a reinterpretation of wartime experiences from a sensory and emotional perspective. It concludes that children and young people are capable of developing critical thinking even in extreme spaces and contexts.
